Happy Blogmas Day 23 everyone! I can't believe we are only 2 days away from Christmas day, which means only one blog post to go after this one. I have loved writing these 24 blog posts, and by doing these blog posts I have watched so many Christmas movies which has only made me so much more festive!
So, for today's blog, I thought I would give you a short list of some movies that are the absolute best to watch on Christmas Eve. I have spent all day today wrapping presents to make sure I have enough time tomorrow to squeeze in all of my festive favourites.
Here we go.

1. Home Alone.
A Christmas classic. No list about the best Christmas movies of all time would be complete without this gem. The best parts are always the booby trap sequences, and as a child those were absolutely my favourite parts, but as I have grown up and watched the film as an adult, I realise that those heartfelt moments are truly what made this movie so special. Home Alone is my most watched Christmas movie of all time, and I never get sick of it. There is something so timeless about it, and it transports me back to when I was a kid and watched it for the first time. Burglars should be aware, I know how to defend my home! This is the perfect movie to watch on Christmas Eve as it is perfect for the whole family, is funny and light-hearted so is an easy watch after a super busy day, but it also one that you can have on in the background whilst you continue to wrap presents.
2. The Greatest Showman.
One of the best modern musicals, filled with incredible songs, performances and acting. The storyline is emotional and heart-warming, and whilst it battles with some serious topics, is still super family-friendly. Musical performances that stand out to me include, This is me, Come Alive and The Greatest Show. However, the more I watch, the more I appreciate Rewrite the stars and Tightrope. This movie is perfect for Christmas Eve as it isn't a typical Christmas movie, and yet it still fills you with the same amount of joy and festive spirit as a Christmas movie does. Also, I feel like musical movies sometimes feel very Christmassy due to the usually happy and energising nature. The Greatest Showman is now my family's Christmas Eve movie tradition, maybe make it yours also.
3. The Polar Express.
Whilst The Polar Express isn't actually one of my favourite Christmas movies, it is sooo super festive! The animation, the music and songs and the story is incredibly heart-warming and special for an audience, which makes it the perfect Christmas Eve movie. A young boy boards a train and embarks on an extraordinary journey to the North Pole to meet Santa Claus. His life takes a turn after he encounters special people that make his journey memorable. That synopsis brilliantly sums up the movie, and you can clearly see just how magical this movie truly is. It is filled with iconographic imagery that literally reflects Christmas as the movie takes you on an incredibly festive adventure, perfect for any Christmas Eve.
4. Mary Poppins.
Growing up, Mary Poppins was also a movie that was shown on TV around Christmastime, which makes me always feel a sense of Christmas nostalgia when I watch it. Also, Mary Poppins is usually a family favourite for all ages, so arguments over movie choice can be stopped when choosing this movie. It may not be the most festive movie you could think of, but it has a family charm and quality about it which makes it perfect for Christmas Eve. Just try to ignore the running time... it is very long for a Disney movie. But worth it.
5. Miracle on 34th Street.
Starring Richard Attenborough and Mara Wilson, Susan and her mother but defend a man, Kris Kringle, from being institutionalised. In order to do so, they must prove that is he Santa Clause. From that description, it doesn’t sound like the most exciting Christmas film, and yet, it is one of the most festive films to watch. In a world filled with unbelieving adults, Susan uses her intuition to convince the world that Santa is real, and succeeds. Miracle on 34th Street is one of the greatest Christmas tales of all time, it dazzles with humour, sadness and too many heartfelt moments to count. This movie has to be on the list for favourite Christmas Eve movies as it is maybe one of the most festive Christmas movies to date. It really gets you in that festive spirit if you aren't feeling as Christmassy as you would hope. It is another that is great for all the family, but it is also a really nice movie for later on the night as it is rather emotional. An absolute Christmas Eve classic.
Well, I hope you enjoyed my favourite Christmas Eve Classics! I know I will be working my way through this list tomorrow...
