On the 15th day of Blogmas, I thought we would take it back to the second part of my series in which I discuss my favourite movie posters, yet this edition will be all of our festive films favourites.

Here are my top 5 favourite Christmas movie posters...

Let me know what your favourite Christmas movie poster is by commenting below or messaging me on instagram - @a.film.a.day_

1. Elf

Besides the clearly vibrant colours and text, I love the fact that Buddy is representing the letter L and that the backdrop of NYC is very illustrated and story-like, which is a huge subplot to the movie. I think what else makes this poster so stand-out amongst other Christmas movie posters is the minimalism and direct reference to the character. When we see the poster, we know that this film is about an elf, and this elf played by Will Ferrell. It is just a great movie poster that stays with you and is instantly recognisable.

2. Miracle on 34th Street.

There is something about this poster that screams magic. The falling snow, the expression of the two characters, the santa hat drooping over the sign, or maybe the girl in the little red dress, but something about this movie poster tells me that this movie is going to be special. This one also holds a lot of nostalgia for me as this was the version I grew up watching, so maybe that is also a reason why I love it so much, but if someone were to ask me what Christmas looks and feels like, I would show them this poster.

3. The Polar Express

What makes this poster so special is the complete lack of human character, and the complete focus on the huge train that is the forefront of this poster. Whilst Tom Hanks' name maybe situated at the top of the poster, the creators of this poster understand that the magic lies within the mystery of the train. The colours are also really special, and the snowman that is watching the boy adds that extra Christmas magic. I also love the tagline... "This holiday season... believe". So special.

4. How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

Does this poster even need an explanation. Carrey's face alone tells you all you need to know about just how amazing this movie is. What I love in particular about this movie is the way that Grinch is situated in the image. He looks menacing and cunning, yet the Santa suit and bowtie wearing dog still gives it that festive joy it needs. The hand holding the bauble is also such an iconic image that has been used in both the movie and other promotional material. This is a great movie poster that is, like a few others I have mentioned, instantly recognisable and iconic,

5. Arthur Christmas.

I think this has to be my favourite Christmas movie poster of all time. Not only is it minimalist enough that it is intriguing but it also has the pivotal characters present. But, what makes this poster so incredible is the sign. "Whatever you've heard is not true. Santa doesn't live here and this is not Santa's son!". This movie toys with the ideas of as life and technology advances, the less children believe in Santa. This sign adds to this humour and more mature themes of the movie, which many may miss.

Hope you enjoyed today's blog. Only 10 days to go until the big day, which means only 9 blogs left!
