Happy 21st December and welcome to day 21 of Blogmas! Only 4 days to go until the big day... I hope we are all super excited for Christmas day and have spent the past 21 days watching as many Christmas classics as we can!
However, as we are heading into the new year, I thought it would be a good idea to take a look at some new releases for 2022!
Scream (RD: 14th January).
Synopsis: Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, California, a new killer dons the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town's deadly past.
What we know already: The film is billed as a relaunch of the franchise. It also serve as the fifth instalment of the Scream franchise. It is scheduled for release on January 14, 2022 in the UK. With a blend of a new cast and some old favourites, including Courtney Cox and David Arquette, most of the characters names were confirmed in December 2020 by HelloSidney.com.
Trailer:
The Batman (RD: 4th March).
Synopsis: The Riddler plays a dangerous game of cat and mouse with Batman and Commissioner Gordon in Gotham City.
What we know already: Directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson and Peter Sarsgaard. The first working title of this movie was 'Vengeance'. This is the first version of Batman to directly address the black eye makeup under the cowl. In previous versions on film, the makeup just disappeared when Bruce took his mask off.
Trailer:
Top Gun: Maverick (RD: 27th May).
Synopsis: After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy's top aviators, Pete Mitchell is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him.
What we already know: Tom Cruise's involvement in this movie was predicated on the condition that real aircraft be used in the aerial sequences, not CGI. At the insistence of Tom Cruise, there are no green screen or CG areal shots in the film, and even the close up cockpit shots are taken during real in-flight sequences. This meant that much of the cast had to undergo extensive G-force training sessions, to withstand the physical demands of the G-force pressures during flights.
Trailer:
Jurassic World: Dominion (RD: 10 June).
Synopsis: Plot has been kept under wraps... more details to follow soon (hopefully).
What we already know: Starring Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt and a few fan favourites. Jeff Goldblum announced on his Instagram that he, along with Laura Dern and Sam Neill, will be in this movie. Laura Dern strongly expressed her desire to return to the franchise in March 2017; adding that: "If you guys make a last one, you gotta let Ellie Sattler come back. She's always the one who's saving the day, man!".
Trailer:
Don’t Worry Darling (RD: 23 September).
Synopsis: A 1950s housewife living with her husband in a utopian experimental community begins to worry that his glamorous company may be hiding disturbing secrets.
What we already know: Starring Florence Pugh and Harry Styles. Ahead of filming, Olivia Wilde fired Shia LaBeouf and replaced him with Harry Styles. LaBeouf reportedly displayed poor behaviour during pre-production and clashed with the cast & crew.
